3 Things To Look For When Buying An Older Home

The Kanawha Valley is full of beautiful, historic homes. And with that age often comes issues that arise. Here are 3 key things to keep an eye out for when considering purchasing an older home.

1. Foundation issues

The foundation of your home is critical to the safety of your home. It supports your house, so any cracks or other issues are important to note so you can understand how it affects the livability of the home. Kanawha Valley Engineering & Home Inspections performs structural inspections to help determine your needs.

2. Outlets

If your outlets only have two holes instead of three, that means they're not grounded. So, any electronics that may require grounded outlets won't function without an adapter. It's best to hire an electrician to correct the issues.

3. Roof

All roofs need maintenance every so often, but how soon are you wanting to dish out money for a large expense? If the current roof is near the end of its useable life, it could be thousands of dollars to fix sooner rather than later.

What other tips would you add?
